Did you know some sunscreens can prevent sunburn, reduce your risk of getting skin cancer and help prevent early signs of aging, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
When buying a sunscreen look for one that is “broad spectrum” which means it can protect your skin from both UVA rays and UVB rays and is SPF 30 or higher.
Once you’ve purchased the right sunscreen make sure you apply it before you go outside! It takes approximately 15 minutes for your skin to absorb the sunscreen and offer protection. Your skin is unprotected and can burn if you wait until you’re outside.
Are you using enough sunscreen? Most adults need at least one ounce of sunscreen. Set a phone reminder to reapply at least every two hours or immediately after swimming or excessively sweating.
