Sun Safety for Your Baby

Unprotected UV exposure in children can cause a sunburn and may lead to skin cancer and early skin aging later in life, so it’s important to protect kids from the sun’s harmful rays from the very beginning.

It is recommended that infants under six months stay out of the sun as much as possible  and sunscreen should be avoided if possible in children younger than six months. If your baby must be outside seek shade and wear protective clothing.

Kids six months and older should wear a broad spectrum, water resistant sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 but should still avoid the sun as much as possible.
