HMO Plans & Referrals

Southern Marin Dermatology accepts HMO plans contracted with Brown & Toland Physicians and Hill Physicians Medical Group.

HMO plans generally require a referral and authorization before you can see a dermatologist. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm your plan’s requirements and ensure that the appropriate referral and authorization are in place before your visit.

Blue Shield of California

While Southern Marin Dermatology is out of network with Blue Shield of California, many Blue Shield members continue to choose our team for their dermatologic care.

Payment is due at the time of service. We will provide you with a superbill that you may submit to Blue Shield for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Because benefits vary by individual plan, we are unable to determine or guarantee whether your insurance will reimburse you or what portion of the cost may be covered.

Cosmetic Services & Fees

Cosmetic consultations and treatments are not billed to insurance.

In addition, certain procedures may be considered cosmetic or not medically necessary under the terms of your insurance plan and therefore may not be covered. When this applies, we will review the cost with you before proceeding so that you can make an informed decision about your care.
