At Southern Marin Dermatology, we provide in-office surgical care for skin cancer as well as benign, atypical, or bothersome skin growths.
Our dermatologists and physician assistants carefully evaluate each concern to determine the most appropriate treatment based on the diagnosis, size, location, and other characteristics of the lesion.
Dermatologic Surgery & Excision
Dermatologic excision may be recommended to remove cysts, lipomas, certain moles, atypical growths, and some skin cancers. These procedures are performed in our office using local anesthesia, with careful attention to wound closure, healing, and scar placement.
Mohs Surgery
Mohs micrographic surgery is a specialized treatment most often recommended for certain high-risk skin cancers or cancers located in areas where preserving healthy tissue is especially important. At SMD, Mohs surgery is performed by fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon Ashley Decker, MD.
Having treated more than 6,000 skin cancers, Dr. Decker brings extensive surgical and reconstructive experience to each patient’s care. She is also one of only a handful of dermatologists in Marin County who is board-certified in both dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery.
