Tips to Control Oily Skin

Oily skin may clog pores and lead to acne breakouts but it also helps to preserve the skin—those with oily skin tend to have fewer wrinkles. Read on for our best tips to find balance with oily skin.

  1. Don’t scrub your skin when washing it (which could irritate it) but gently cleanse it with an oil-free, noncomedogenic product each morning, evening and after exercise.
  2. Choose a gentle face wash—harsh washes can actually trigger increased oil production. The on-site SMD skincare boutique has great options.
  3. Skip any cleansers that are alcohol or oil-based.
  4. Don’t be tempted to skip moisturizing, you still need to keep skin hydrated.
  5. Use blotting papers throughout the day to absorb any excess oil.

If you are still concerned with the amount of oil your skin is producing make an appointment with a dermatologist at SMD.
