We’re always looking for thoughtful ways to enhance your care, and we’re excited to introduce our new Clear + Brilliant Touch laser for brighter, smoother-looking skin. This addition builds on the treatment our patients already know and love, continuing our commitment to carefully selected technology and personalized care.
WHAT’S NEW WITH CLEAR + BRILLIANT TOUCH LASER?
If you’ve had Clear + Brilliant before, you may remember discussing which treatment approach would best suit your concerns. Touch brings the Original and Perméa hand pieces together in one system, making it easier to incorporate both into a customized session.
Each uses a different wavelength of laser energy to reach different depths within the skin. In practical terms, that gives us a way to address uneven tone and pigmentation alongside texture, the appearance of pores, and early signs of aging—rather than focusing on just one set of concerns.
The benefit is a more comprehensive skin refresh, with your provider deciding whether one or both approaches make sense for you.
A GENTLER APPROACH TO LASER RESURFACING
Clear + Brilliant Touch is a non-ablative laser that uses heat to create microscopic treatment zones in the upper layers of the skin. This triggers the skin’s natural repair process, gradually improving tone, texture, and radiance. With this approach, patients can enjoy gentler resurfacing with reduced downtime, though temporary redness, swelling, or dryness can occur as your skin recovers.
At SMD, Clear + Brilliant Touch is our safest laser option for treating all skin types, including olive and deeper skin tones. During your consultation, we consider your skin tone, sensitivity, medical history, and goals together to determine whether it’s the right choice for you.
For patients seeking improvement in deeper wrinkles, more significant sun damage, or scarring, Fraxel or fractional CO₂ may be a better fit. Having several options allows us to match the treatment to your skin and the results you want.
IS CLEAR + BRILLIANT TOUCH LASER RIGHT FOR YOU?
Clear + Brilliant Touch may be a good fit if you’re looking for:
- A brighter complexion and more even-looking tone.
- Smoother texture and less noticeable pores.
- Improvement in early signs of aging, including fine lines.
- A gentle introduction to laser resurfacing.
- A way to maintain skin quality as part of an ongoing treatment plan.
It may also fit into a maintenance plan after a more intensive treatment, depending on your skin and your provider’s recommendations.

THE EXPERTISE BEHIND YOUR TREATMENT
Getting the most from a laser treatment starts with understanding your skin. A brown spot, uneven tone, or rough patch can have different causes, and those differences matter when deciding how to treat it.
At SMD, our board-certified dermatologists and physician assistants bring medical and cosmetic dermatology experience to those decisions. We consider what’s causing the concern, how your skin may respond, and which approach offers the most worthwhile improvement. That expertise helps us make the most of your Clear + Brilliant Touch treatment.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR TREATMENT
Before your appointment, we’ll review your skincare, medications, recent procedures, and sun exposure. You’ll receive instructions tailored to your treatment, including when to pause retinoids, exfoliating acids, or other potentially irritating products.
Protect your skin from the sun and let us know about a recent tan, sunburn, or irritation. If you have a history of cold sores, tell your provider so they can discuss whether preventive medication is appropriate. Please check with your prescribing clinician before changing prescription medication.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR TREATMENT
Your skin will be cleansed, and topical numbing may be used for comfort. During treatment, the hand piece moves across the treatment area; you may notice warmth or a prickling sensation.
Afterward, temporary redness, swelling, dryness, or sensitivity can occur. Although recovery is generally lighter than with more intensive resurfacing, plan for your skin to need gentle care.
Follow your provider’s instructions for cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection. Avoid scrubbing or trying to speed up exfoliation, and wait until your provider recommends restarting active skincare products.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WIL YOU NEED
Some patients notice a refresh after one session; others benefit from a series. We’ll discuss the number and spacing of treatments based on your starting point, goals, and response, along with skincare and maintenance that can help support your results.
LET’S FIND THE RIGHT APPROACH FOR YOUR SKIN
Whether you already love Clear + Brilliant or are considering your first laser treatment, we’d be happy to walk you through what’s new and help you decide where it fits.
