IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is the most popular non-ablative light treatment at SMD. A favorite among patients who are athletes and spend a great deal of time outdoors, this treatment is very effective in improving overall skin tone. IPL targets a myriad of skin concerns including redness, tiny veins, freckles, sun damage, and brown spots, with minimal downtime. It’s a wonderful treatment to get your skin even and glowing!
Similar to laser, IPL delivers targeted, high-intensity pulses of light. Depending on your baseline skin condition, your skin tone, and other factors, your provider will customize the wavelength and intensity of light emitted to accommodate your skin’s specific needs. IPL can also be performed on the chest, arms, hands, and other body parts.
Not all IPL devices are created equal! Our M22 IPL machine is the gold standard option to give you the best results in the fewest treatments possible. While some results will be visible after one session, a series of 2-4 treatments, spaced out by 4-6 weeks, is recommended for an optimal outcome.
At SMD, IPL treatments are only administered by our board-certified dermatologists and Physician Assistant. On average, they perform between 10-15 IPL treatments per week, and are highly trained in all forms of laser and light therapy. You will get optimal results with less risk of adverse effects.
