COVID-19 and SMD: Urgent Dermatology Cases Only

Position statement–updated 9:36 pm 3/16/20

We have now closed our office given the “shelter in place” mandates in the Bay Area which requires all “routine medical appointments” and elective procedures to be canceled or rescheduled. However, if you have an urgent dermatological issue, such as a severe rash, abscess, skin infection, or shingles, etc, please call us and we will work out an arrangement for you to be seen either via TeleHealth, if possible, or in person, if neeeded. See below for information on accessing our TeleHealth app. Please wash hands, abide by the shelter in place policies, and stay safe!

Position statement 3/16/20

“It is critical that patients who can postpone their appointments do so, so that we can optimize health care resources at this time. We ask that you do not come to SMD unless you absolutely must be seen, so that we can all participate in social distancing and keep one other safe. We are waiving cancellation fees and patients should not come in if they have a fever or any other symptoms of COVID-19. Please call your primary care or seek urgent care if needed if you have any worrisome symptoms.

“Our current patients all have access to the patient portal (call us at 415-887-9758 if you need a new log in) and this is where you can email your provider for routine refills or create a TeleDermatology visit (via the PocketPatient app from Modernizing Medicine) to submit cases where you need to upload  photos of non-urgent nature.

“Let’s wash our hands, stay home, and do our part to help our community.” 💙
