May is melanoma and skin cancer awareness month and prevention for this disease is one of our core responsibilities at Southern Marin Dermatology. Not only do we perform skin checks daily for our patients to catch early signs of skin cancer, we also perform Mohs surgery, considered the most effective technique for treating many basal cell carinomas (BCCs) and sqaumous cell carinomas (SCCs), the two most common types of skin cancer.
Throughout the month, we will be sharing facts and prevention tips on our blog and social media in efforts to bring more awareness to this disease.
