Oily Skin Prevention Tips

Stress, humidity, genetics and hormones can all play a part in causing oily skin. Here are our top tips for preventing and taking care of oily skin at home:

  1. Wash your face morning, evening and after exercise with a gentle, foaming face wash. Face washes that are harsh can actually irritate the skin and trigger increased oil production.
  2. Choose products that are labeled oil-free and noncomedogenic, which will help to not clog your pores or cause acne.
  3. Apply moisturizer that contains a broad-spectrum SPF of 30 or higher each day. It will keep your skin hydrated and protect against the sun’s harmful rays.
  4. Use blotting papers throughout the day to absorb oil on-the-go.
  5. Avoid touching your face throughout the day, which can spread dirt, oil and bacteria from your hands to your face.
