SMD Supports the Melanoma Research Foundation

SMD is a proud sponsor of the Melanoma Research Foundation. It recently partnered with the organization for the Wings of Hope for Melanoma event to bring awareness about melanoma research to the public. Did you know that melanoma is increasing faster than any other cancer out there? SMD knows the importance of supporting melanoma research because it saves lives.

Shockingly, research for melanoma only receives a small percentage of government cancer research funding and is the very reason for the necessity of organizations like the Melanoma Research Foundation or MRF.

MRF hosted its 7th annual Wings of Hope for Melanoma Gala June 6th in San Francisco,  and raised $120,000! The funds donated will go to education, melanoma research and help raise awareness.

With donations, not only are research grants and awareness expanded, but also early detection and prevention efforts are made. The ultimate goal of MRF is to eventually find a cure to the deadly cancer.

SMD reminds everyone that melanoma strikes people of all ages and races, so make sure to wear sunscreen with zinc oxide, and also make sure to get annual full body skin checks.
