Tips for an Infection-Free Ear Piercing Experience

PiercedEar

Planning to take that seminal ear piercing step with your daughter this summer? Follow these tips from the American Academy of Dermatology to help avoid infection:

  1. Always wash hands before touching newly pierced ears.
  2. Leave the starter earrings in for at least six weeks!
  3. Wash your lobes with soap and water at least once daily.
  4. Twist the earrings a few times a day to keep skin from forming around the earring post.
  5. Dip a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol and gently clean the skin around the piercings twice a day to keep away germs and prevent scabbing.
